CNHS STUDENTS GOES ECOBRICKING

The CNHS Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) conducted a Seminar-Workshop entitled ECO-BRICKS: A Solution to Plastic Pollution held at the school Conference Hall last June 27, 2018.

The program was started by its first two numbers, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem conducted by Aiah Antonio, YES-O Secretary and the opening prayer led by Norie Bautsita, YES-O President.

Ms. Madelaine F. Gatchalian, OIC Head Teacher of the Science Department gave her welcoming remarks to the participants of the seminar workshop. It was then followed by the inspirational message of Dr. Regin Rex P. Tosco, Ed.D., Education Program Supervisor in Science.

The guest speakers, Mr. Michael Resureccion and his brother Mr. Jose Manuel Resureccion were introduced by Mr. Louie-Zel M. Pedro, YES-O Adviser.
The Resureccion brothers are both GEA (Global Ecobrics Alliance) Certified trainers and members of the SIFcare (Science of Identity Foundation) members.
In the seminar-workshop, both of them tackled the proper way of doing ecobricks and the ideas why we do ecobricking. After the short discussion, the participants were grouped and constructed their own ecobricks.
After almost two hours of stuffing their plastics inside the ecobrick, the participants were taught how to put them together using silicone sealant.

The program was concluded by the awarding of certificates to the speakers and participants and a closing remarks delivered by Mr. Louie-Zel M. Pedro

"We are planning to roll-out this training workshop to the other students so that aware sila sa kung paano natin masosolusyonan ang plastic pollution" said Mrs. Amparo Mateo, Science Club Adviser of CNHS.
